It is well known, at least with oldtimers that most of the people and posts on that site are fake. They seem to have been attempting to be the Jerry Springer of the Buenos Aires scene but were never particularly successful through the creation of content certain to create a big stir. If that did not work they would then target local businessmen like my good friend Frank Almeida, above, and rake them over the coals in an attempt to drive people to the site due to the brewing controversy.

The thing is that everytime someone creates some short lived website to protest against these people, everytime someone creates a bunch of interest in a comments thread or a forum thread such as this – all you are actually doing is buying into their trap. They want to sow the seeds of discontent…. it is good for traffic……….. Remember the old adage: “there is no such thing as bad publicity”.

The best thing to do is to simply ignore these people. In the end, all thinking and rational people are eventually either driven off the site by censorship or banned…….

By the end of his efforts, that local business owner ended up a bit frustrated.

All the while they kept talking about suing me, which was very ridiculous and I kept telling them to just do it and stop talking about it.

Well, hopefully posts/comments like these will alert some folk to what they’re like.

That is my point here to David. Igor owns the site. It is his personal playground, and if he wants to maintain a forum where his friends can pay with each other, that’s his business. Don’t we all have better things to do with our time than worry about what one lone crackpot does on the Internet? Once I understood how and why BAExpats functioned, I quickly lost interest and, because I don’t need the site for information about Buenos Aires (I live here, after all), I stopped wasting my Internet time visiting it. Stop bothering with it and in a week you won’t even remember anything about it. BAExpats is just another forum playground where a small group of people who don’t have much else to do with their days spend time either arguing with or showing off for others in their club.

From what I know about how you spend your time, Amelia, it seems that you actually have a real life, and probably don’t have so much free time that you can waste in a private Internet club.
